Throwback to Musandam, Oman

Kuwait celebrates it’s National Day and Liberation Day on February 25 and 26 every year. It is also commonly known as “Hala Feb” here. Two days of holidays are assured and it is a bonus if it falls on Friday so that you get compensated on a weekday too. Last year, we went to Dubai for Hala Feb. It was a four days trip – First day Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi and Burj Khalifa; Second day – Dubai Mall and Global Village; Third day – Miracle garden and Desert Safari; Fourth – Musandam, Oman. Yeah, you read it right! We covered Oman in the trip and was the best part of the entire vacation. One of my husband’s friends had booked this Dhow cruise for us from Dubai to Oman. We had no clue of the place so didn’t know what to expect out of it. This was an organised group trip and the Oman visa was arranged by the tour organizers. We were picked up by the organizers from Qusais around 7.30 AM in a coaster with other people who had booked for the trip. It was an 2 and half drive from Dubai to Ras Al Kaimah(RAK). As we entered the highway from the hustle and bustle of Dubai it was totally different scene. Desert on both the sides of the highway and herds of camels grasing. Once we were nearing RAK, again the landscape was entirely different. Rocky mountains on one side and desert on the other, coconut farms and few cultivated lands. It was all lush green contradict to the desert on the other end. After a brief ID verification at the check-post, we entered Oman. The place where we boarded our boat was called the Dibba beach.

Towards Ras-Al Kaimah

The beachline surrounded by rocky mountains was such a treat to the eyes. People and food were boarded in our boat and we started the ride to Musandam. After almost after an hour of ride, we reached a white sand beach where we spent time until 4 PM. Activities like snorkelling, banana boat ride and limestone cave visiting were organized in the beach.

The buildings that you see on the shore in the above pic is a luxury hotel. Also, our tour guide told us there is a small village of fishermen tribe near by the hotel. The fishermen brings in fresh seafood to the market located on the Dibba beach everyday.

We were given fishing kits to try some fishing on our way back to the Dibba beach. Though we had no luck it was a fun activity. We were picked up in the same coasters and were dropped back in Dubai by around 8 PM.

If you are planning a trip to Dubai or living in Dubai, do take this day tour to Musandam. You can find some good deals here. Highly recommend!
